The Asian financial hub of Hong Kong and China's neighbouring populous province of Guangdong cancelled hundreds of flights on Friday and shut businesses, schools and financial markets as Saola had edged closer. Packing winds of more than 200 kph (125 mph) as a super typhoon, Saola was among the strongest to menace the southern province since 1949. Hong Kong imposed its highest hurricane storm signal 10 on Friday night, lowering it to 8 by Saturday morning. I do not understand how it could be double the price of the stock when the TVB means that if you closed the bank that's what you would get. I know the stock of Wells Fargo (WFC) didn't do much after it reported. Now, I offer the story of these banks as a preamble to what I see happening in the stock market right now. I don't want to conflate a day of good bank earnings with a month of good stock prices. The expected announcement comes after Lee said on Saturday that Hong Kong would reopen its borders with mainland China by mid-January.
